17-19 May 2015 – Excel London.
This year I attended the May Design Series – a trade only design and furnishing exhibition with around 500 exhibitors from over 20 different countries. The prospect of all these companies in one location filled me with delight (although I’m not sure the same could be said for my poor – tagged along to keep me company husband!).
There was some new and interesting features, some of which i’m hoping to use in my next KLC assignment.

New British Designs
One of the highlights of the exhibition was attending a conference about – New directions in materials, colour and texture – Hosted by Paddy O’Connell (Journalist and broadcaster) Featuring – Marianne Shillingford (Creative Director – Dulux), Daniel Hopwood) President of the British Institute of Interior Design) and Jim Biddulph (Projects and materials Manager – Material Lab).
The session explored the latest trends, new materials and some insights into current interior design pattern and the panel were available to answer any questions on the topic.
Later in the day I attended the conference by interior designer – Abigail Ahern where she talked about her rather distinct dark style.
All in all, a very enjoyable day. I left with plenty of new ideas and dozens of product brochures for future jobs.
– I’m already looking forward to going next year 🙂
