Advent Calendar

Christmas is the time to bring out your favourite decorations.

This little up-cycle is a great way to create a special advent calendar that you can keep for years and years. You can fill it with individual treats specific to your taste or even better, get your partner to fill it full of gorgeous little goodies. (My husband does a wonderful job of adding scrummy chocolates which creates a lovely personal touch in the lead up to Christmas.)

Step 1.

I purchased this wooden 25 drawer unit from CraftMill for £23.99, they have other sizes and shapes that will equally work as well as this one.

Step 2.

I then used a bit of leftover white paint and added one part paint to one part water to create a white wash to cover the unit and individual drawers.

Step 3.

I found a suitable Christmas image that fits the size and shape of the unit and printed it onto a piece of card. Then I cut around the image with a sharp craft knife creating a template.

Step 4.

Placing the template onto the drawer unit I drew around it.

Step 5.

Using some left over red paint, I filled in the outline created by the template.

Step 6.

Then simply fill with your favourite treats and count down till Christmas.

You could simply add numbers to each box, but with such a lovely image I think it looks better without.

Here is another one I created last year.
